The John and Angela Patrick and Nellie Kushner legacy is one that will live on in the Comox Valley.
In 2000, the Patricks established the Nellie Kushner Fund in memory of Angela’s stepmother. The fund has supported many areas of healthcare over the years.
In April 2018, after many years of planning and at age 90, Angela announced the gift of a lifetime—the John and Angela Patrick and Nellie Kushner Fund established through Charitable Gifts Fund Canada to benefit The Comox Valley Healthcare Foundation in perpetuity. The principle will stay intact and the portfolio will provide a donation between $50,000 and 100,000 annually. This very generous gift will support priority needs in healthcare and have a profound impact on the lives of others for generations. From the first donation of this gift, $30,000 will be used to provide the funding needed for the sunroom at newly opened Mountainview unit (The Views at St. Joseph’s). In recognition of this generous gift, a plaque will be placed in the new sunroom.
John, Angela and Nellie always loved St. Joseph’s — the wonderful care they received and the beautiful ocean setting. The beautiful new sunroom overlooks the ocean, faces in the direction of Fanny Bay and is also steps away from the last home in which the Patricks lived together.
