We wanted to take a moment to share this heartwarming story from Island Health about local businesses giving gifts of gratitude to vaccination clinic volunteers in our community. What a lovely way to recognize these incredible volunteers.
A group of Comox Valley businesses have banded together to thank volunteers at the Glacier Garden’s immunization clinic with gift bags.
“To our dedicated volunteers,” group organizer Mark Hamilton stated in a gift bag letter. “Donating your time at the vaccination clinics has been a crucial part in helping get both our community and country closer and closer to the normal that we are all craving.”
“We want to make sure you know that your selfless contribution is one that we appreciate beyond measure. I approached a few other local businesses to see if they would like to participate and received a heartwarming response. These businesses provided the following at a reduced cost, allowing us to share the thanks even further.”
“On behalf of Courtenay Kia and Island Honda’s entire staff as well as the participating local businesses, please enjoy this small gesture and thank you again.”
Courtenay Kia/Island Honda operating partner Mark Hamilton presented the gift bags to Carmen Christiansen, Island Health’s Consultant, Volunteer Resources and Engagement, Campbell River and Comox Valley, on Monday.
“We have an incredible team of over 30 dedicated volunteers that support the vaccine clinic from opening until closing each day,” Carmen says. “These volunteers share a common goal: to support their community to recover from the pandemic.
“They are a key support to patient flow and also provide comfort and general information to the community members who attend the vaccine clinic. It is such a pleasure to work with this caring team of volunteers in the Comox Valley.”
The gift bags included:
- Gladstone Brewing: $20.00 gift card
- respect the drip: free coffee certificate
- Beaufort Winery: bottle of wine
- Land And Sea Brewing Company: $20.00 gift card
- Uplifters: sticker and L’Arche soup mix
- Bigfoot Doughnuts: certificate for half-dozen donuts
- blue spruce Ice Cream: certificate for free small cone
“What wonderful gift bags you brought on behalf of Mark Hamilton and the other businesses who donated to them,” volunteer Beth Ritchie, seen below with Jenny Schum, said to Carmen. “What a lovely gesture!”
