In Honour of National Volunteer Week: Stuffies for Kids

Left to right: Ron Fortin (Donor of the Stuffies), Jack Yeo (Island Health Volunteer), Lynn Dashkewytch (CVHFoundation), Dustin Spratt (Island health Cross Site Manager Critical care and Emergency) and Laura Heikklia (Manager Island Health Volunteer Resources)

An Awesome story of what the volunteers do!

The volunteers at the Comox Valley Hospital Information Desk and Emergency Department know just the trick to helping to distract, calm or cheer up a child. The stuffies donated by the Comox Valley Healthcare Foundation are one of the tools in the volunteer toolbox at the Comox Valley Hospital.

Long-time Emergency Department volunteer, Jack, says ‘It’s amazing to see a child’s face light right up when you give them a stuffy.’ Jack volunteers in the Emergency Department three times a week and hands out many of the stuffed animals, making a huge impact on children and their parents.
