Foundations help fund special learning opportunity for rehabilitation specialists

Thanks to donors who believe in education that supports healthcare excellence, the Comox Valley Healthcare Foundation and the Campbell River Hospital Foundation could help fund special training for physiotherapists and other rehabilitation professionals from their respective sites.

A Spinal Cord Injury Workshop was held last fall at the Comox Valley Hospital. Physiotherapists and other rehabilitation specialists from both campuses of the North Island Hospital, Comox Valley and Campbell River, attended to enhance knowledge and skills in support of care provided to individuals with life-changing spinal cord injuries.

Part of what made this education profound was the involvement of people with lived experience. As our rehabilitation colleagues reflected, these personal stories cannot be learned from reading a textbook - they offer incredible insight for professionals to bring back to their future practice.
