“Stockings were delivered by night shift staff, so everyone woke up to a surprise at their bedside. Staff were excited to be able to do it. It made it special for the staff who were working and away from their own families on Christmas Eve, and a real treat for the patients who were in hospital.”
- Elyse Hendry RN, Comox Valley Hospital
Photo: Elyse Hendry and Irene LaFortune from the Restorative Care Unit on the 4th floor of the Comox Valley Hospital receive stockings from the Foundation’s Avry Janes and community champion, Mandy Baker. Stockings for Seniors is an initiative led by Baker & Associates Private Wealth Management in partnership with the Comox Valley Healthcare Foundation. Each December, a collection of comfort items, treats and small gifts are stuffed into stockings and distributed to various healthcare sites to give to seniors who don’t have family nearby during the holidays. In 2023, 111 stockings were lovingly filled and provided to healthcare staff who distributed them to grateful patients and residents.
